“The American dream is a sham and a farce – and I still want it.” These are the words of a disabled African-American man who, from his own admission, has “Got to get it - I got no choice.” Out To Get It takes a look at the world he lives in, where the barriers to the American Dream are literal as well a figurative. It explores the many challenges and social stigmas facing the disability and minority communities and discusses the changes that must occur to make the American Dream accessible to all Americans.
Keith Jones is a charismatic, witty, and ambitious black man living with Cerebral Palsy. Blending politics and activism with an incredibly sharp sense of humor and insight, the cameras will follow him as he tries to “get it.” The stories and accounts he shares will have you laughing and crying simultaneously. With a passion and drive that leaves everyone in awe, he continually overcomes his own ambivalence about his disability and proves himself capable of doing anything he sets his mind on. This film is the portrait of a remarkable man living in an America that few see and even fewer talk about.

The shared stories and accounts will be helpful tools for states, consumers or any groups seeking to find common ground in order to build a positive future.
